I have a CJ10 Jeep that was my first car, I found it on market place. I am looking to do it up as a 2WD Rat rod type truck.
I was planning on using a 4BT but I received a very good condition 6BT that was in a rarely used but well maintained generator.

Anyone know if it has been done? or had any experience in this section.

Understanding I will be replacing all the running gear.

Wtf? Can’t be serious?

I would think the firewall would need to be reworked extensively to fit a 6BT. Theres also the weight of the 6BT to factor in, but it would look the part for a rat-rod. Whichever route you go, make sure to post up pictures!

Sorry, I should have been more specific.
It’s just that a CJ10 is extremely rare. If I remember correctly, they only made around 300 of em in the US. The Mexican plant only made a few hundred as well.

I just can’t imagine doing anything other than restoring one. But, to each his own. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Well, I just sold a 1998 dodge that had a well used and well maintained 6BT that had 320,000 miles on it. Your build will likely last forever, if you choose not to tune it to 1000 HP. The issue I have with the older mechanically injected ones is that you can't be within 50 feet and have a conversation at anything less than a shout. But that's also why they're so reliable.

As an apocalypse mobile, it's the engine of choice. Mechanically injected, they run on WVO, B100, and just about anything else that might be liquid, oily, and flammable.

Sounds like you could get pretty creative. I say "go with your heart" and not the internet.

well there was less in Australia and finding parts is no simple task. I want to make this my daily driver and the reason I sold it in the beginning was I could never find the parts I needed to keep her on the road.
I was going to trade the parts I don't need to get the ones I do need.

Very unique rig there. I've yet to see one in person.
Makes sense to me now that you're angling towards a Cummins because of parts availability. Good luck with the work.

That’s going to be a really cool vehicle. As hole said please post up some pictures . Over the last few years there has been a few people come and go with those. One was really done well. You might check with airports and military bases, they were used as tugs for moving airplanes around on the tarmac. That’s where some people found their project.

It can be done. I've seen 6bts in YJs and CJs before. Never in a 10 but Ive also never seen a 10 in person before either. I'm watching with interest
