poking away at my new jeep and wonder if someone can tell me if this gas tak is a custom made, or some after market. I could not find it online anywhere.

Looks just like the one I made back in the 80's.
Look at the welds to see if it looks like a pro welded it.

Stock was a stamping with rounded corners. It maybe an over-sized aftermarket.

I know this is a 2yld post but a little 411 on the gas tank.
It's an after-market tank that was available in the late 80's early 90's from a number of suppliers. I got mine in stainless steel from 4wd hardware, I think? You could use the stock fill hose and gas cap vent hose, it also retained the jeep sending unit, you just had to cut the float arm and make it about 4 inches longer. The bad part was these tanks do not have baffles they are wide open inside. The good part was they held a lot of fuel for those long trips.
