Does anyone have suggestions on where to find a replacement radio for my '74 CJ5 ? Open to way to use iPod/similar to connect to in dash speaker. Prefer not cutting dash to make room for more contemporary radio. Thank you.

Thank you for your help. I have contact both suggestions and will let you know what I learn. Thanks again.

There are a couple models from www.RetroSoundUSA.com that do have AUX input, and one that does have iPOD or Memory card integration.

Spoke with them today and they were very helpful. They weren't sure if their radios would fit a '74 CJ5 but asked me to measure the size of the portion of the main radio body the protrudes through the dash and they would let me know. They thought it would but wanted to be sure before I ordered.

i like that look, too bad it doesn't have an aux port

My 74 has no provision for a head unit, if I were ready to do audio install I would look at this PXi50.2. It's supposed to be weatherproof and no headunit for prying eyes to steal or be curious about.

USB and iPod adapter available. I just replaced my speaker with Rockford -Fosgate 5.25", they fit perfect and sound great. Next I need an antenna dn then, when I have the funds this baby. I don't need it to be loud cause I just use the Jeep around town and off-road. (When I was younger, tunes and heat were the priority, when I had kids it was tires and brakes, now I hopefully I can afford it all.):)

Thanks for all the responses. I ended up going with the www.Retrosoundusa.com Model 2. So far very happy. I really like the Bluetooth streaming. It's great, I just get in start the vehicle and it automatically starts playing from my iPhone (either stored music or Pandora, which ever was last playing).

Comes with ipod connector, aux, and can even do hands free calling which isn't practical for a jeep.

All-in-all a good choice, and doesn't look too modern.

Thanks again for all the help.

That is pretty cool. They didn't have the model One out when I bought mine. I still really like it though. I just have to use a cord to play music from my Iphone. It is funny that everyone that sees the radio thinks it is just some old radio, which is exactly what I wanted. :chug:

I just purchased a nice radio off that big buying site . it looks very close to the original and has the jeep right on the front. has ipod cord and flash drive cord. Really like the push button look with the digital upgrade. it fits the original mounts and sounds great, also has rca plugins for a amp. was $239.00 with shipping.
