1976 CJ-5 all Original 44,000 miles. Lots of fun! Really enjoy gravel roading here in the Ozarks. Flat Nasty off road Park is my new hobby. My CJ5 makes life fun. Lately the Jeep has been my 4whlr at work it's a tank
Purchased a one piece conversion kit 3 months ago worked great then my driver side bearing went out that's where the headache started. Purchased a new bearing from local parts store, they pressed it on had the axle installed and it just shredded. On the 4th one now but this one I ordered from manufacturer. I've asked around town and some say press bearing on others say put in freezer. What is the best way?

there shouldn't be any problem with pressing them on, that's what I have always done.
Are you sure you have your bearing spacer the right length so you have the correct pre load on the bearing.

I printed out the instructions the last time hoping they would get it right, and it lasted the longest. Really think they were putting the wrong bearing on all along. Just wish there was one good Jeep mechanic in this town!
