Misc 78 cj5 360 5.9l t777 drivetrain thought

ive got a 78 CJ5 360 5.9l t777 Transmission Dana 300 Transfer Case Dana 44 front and rear any thoughts on that combo the 360 has an edelbrock performer intake and edelbrock carb and not factory cam not sure what size 37 inch tires on 16.5 rims

I assume you meant a T177 Transmission (not a T777). Or maybe you meant a T727 (TorqueFlight auto tranny), but unlikely in a CJ5 . The T177 manual is a good Transmission The difference is the 1st gear ratio is 3.8:1 whereas the T-176 was a 3.5:1. Then there's a T178 with a longer input shaft to match a deeper bell housing like on a full size Wagoneer or pickup where you wanted the shifter further back. Certainly wouldn't have been stock in a '78 model.

The 360 is a stout beast when built right. And the Dana 300 with Dana 44 's is also a great combo.

So if you're seeking opinions on your existing combo, I'd say it all depends on your needs/uses. Offroading? 37" tires with a 360 engine and a capable T177 4-speed and Dana 44 's is a good setup. You didn't mention axle ratios or any gear swaps (probably needed with 37" tires), but a good setup. Highway driving? Maybe 8-10 mpg on level streets and probably a pain in traffic.

It is a t177 according to the tag the axle ratio im not sure of the tc does have the 32 spline shafts the 360 is pretty stout canyou tell me what the ratio is by the numbers on diff cover or what those numbers mean
