81 and 79 emissions equipment for 304

I have both an 81 and 79 CJ7 both with the AMC 304 v8 motor. I am trying to find info on what emissions equipment would have to be on them to pass a visual. I have headers and dual cats then glasspacks for exhaust. Any diagrams or photos would be appreciated. I know the motor in my 81 is actually a 74 engine by the numbers on the tag.

Did you check the parts manual we have in our Docs section? It should list part #s and have pictures.

That is one of my questions, since I have an older engine in a newer CJ I assume I have to upgrade the emissions to be what the title of the jeep says it is regardless the year of the engine.

I will take a look at the online docs but if anyone has an 81 or 79 a couple of quick pics would be greatly appreciated.

I have do get mine equiped as well and I was able to find most of the parts new on the internet. I took a long time to fine the parts but the stors seem to have these parts in stock if you know where to look. The only part I was unable to find was the diverter valve, or back fire valve. The vacume delay valves are available at Napa, but Im not sure which and how many are needed. The air tubes on the original exhaust manifolds are available at Teamgrandwagoneer.com. Air pump is available at Autozone along with the pcv, and egr valves.

Also the DMV emissions tech center will be able to provide a list of specific equipment for your year that will be needed for the test.
