Build Thread '81 CJ-7 Laredo build

Build Thread '81 CJ-7 Laredo build
Pretty much just been using the Cj for camping trips and enjoying the ride. While I was trolling the Internet for Scrambler parts I came across something I couldn't pass on for the Laredo . I wanted to do an ignition upgrade and grabbed up these for it:

$200 for a DUI Dizzy and wires. :)

Looks like mine! lol

:chug:

I have had good luch with my DUI - after the whole gear issue... ;)

I didn't think that the DUI 6 cyl ever had that issue. Being mines used I feel pretty safe slapping it in there.

Well my new pan showed up today. Originally I was just going to try and solve my leak by using a line locker gasket. After I ordered one I decided I wanted the pan as well. Now I'm waiting on the gasket from another place. Hopefully it shows up tomorrow.

Not having a lot of luck these days. My knees have become very troublesome as of late. To top that off seems like I lost oil pressure coming up a mountain by my place. Lots of rattle in the valve train. I did find another AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l with 121,000 miles on it from a early Yj. Basically blew the Scrambler fund between being out of work and the replacement engine. Hopefully my knee issues will be situated within a week or two.

So sorry to hear about your knee problems. My better half is scheduled for knee surgery (again) on the 9th

Well I finally had my surgery Oct. 28th. Today was my 1st day of physical therapy which should last 4-6 weeks. I'm hopeful I can start the engine swap after Thanksgiving. No pics since nothing's going on. Once the engine swap is done we'll start the trailer build. The Scrambler is shelved till Spring. Hopefully no more set backs. I lied , heres one update pic. :D

That's real nice, kinda like the sea witch from the little mermaid if you squint just right - I have two little girls :)

Now that you have stopped squinting :). Have fun with the therapy sessions!

Here's to getting back to work in you rig! Clank.

I have two girls as well so I'm familiar with Ursula! :D both my girls are older now 19 and 17. Funny thing was that picture was taken to send to my 17 year old. She just sent me a message with an Emoji flipping the bird. That was my response lol. The best therapy will be getting back down to the garage. It's hard being home all this time and still can't work on it.

Pete, what type of surgery did you have? I've had both of mine replaced. Last one will be two years ago Janusry, the other 13 years ago. Good luck. Be sure you do your physical therapy. Get well soon.

Luckily for me mine is just a torn meniscus. They went in and shaved it down , cleaned it up and hopefully it will last me quite awhile longer. Thanks for the well wishes , it's appreciated. :)

Had my surgery October 7th, going to the doctor tomorrow to see if I'm cleared to go back to work. Hang in there Pete!

I've had both mine done as well, no fun but not too bad. You'll be kickin around before you know it. I've beat the snot out of mine post surgery for 20 years or so playing hockey and no real issues. Knock knock

Finally got a little garage time. Finished stripping the Limited down. Gonna winch it out tomorrow and start cutting it down for my trailer project.

How'd that feel!

:D Definitely put a smile on my face. It's been so unseasonably warm while I've been laid up. I'm hoping it keeps up a bit. It's supposed to be in the 60s by next weekend. I hope to get the garage cleaned up and the Laredo set up for the engine swap before going back to work.

Vicki let me know earlier this week since I had to sacrifice the Scrambler and some other parts that our income tax return can go toward the Jeep. That should go a long way toward making it more capable. I've been making a list already but I'm keeping calm till it's actually here lol.

That's great - glad to hear it. It's been in the low 40's here which is still great for early Dec in Maine - it's been nice to have the extra time outside etc. I'm actually having a stogie and a coffee stout on the patron cooking up a turkey potato green bean smash in the Dutch oven on my Kamado grill which is a treat indeed! Speedy recovery.
