I am going to be picking up new floor pans for my CJ. I have the two front pans already and will get the two back pans and the cargo pan. I found a welder who said he will do all of the cutting/fitting/welding for $400 flat. Is this a good price? Should I continue looking? When I get home, I'll try to post some pictures of the holes to get opinions on whether or not I should buy the whole pans or just ask somebody do some patchwork.

That sounds like a pretty good deal to me. :)

that is cheap but are you sure that its just the pans that need replaced , have you looked at the bracing under the jeep and were the roll bar mounts , I didnt have to replace my cargo pan just the front and rear pans but had to deal with some bracing and all the areas were the roll bar was mounted , you can look at my rebuild thread and check the others as well , because once the guy tears in to it the price could go up or he wont fix everything , and look at were the tub mounts are as that is all tied in , I would look at it close , maybe you have I dont know , but there can be surprises ,,how about some pics maybe start your own rebuild thread

The guy doing the welding is going to take a look at it next week, but he said if the pan supports require "minimal" fixing, he can do that with metal he has in stock at his shop.

It depends on what kind of quality work he does. Cutting and fitting can be time consuming to get things to fit right, plus other metal may need replacing so the floor can be fully attached. I've spent the better part of the summer repairing my floors, rockers, and part of my outer supports and I'm not done yet. Granted, I'm not working full days on it and I'm not a body man, metal fabricator, or welder, but I am a stickler for detail. So $400 sounds good.... if he's just not patching over problems or doing shoddy work.

Yep, the area right around the roll bar front attach points can be very prone to corrosion. In many cases, that area will show damage even before the floor pans rust through.
