Re: My New to me '84 CJ-7. First Jeep and first post too.

Awesome thanks for the insight...I need a friend w/a body shop too.

Ask around and go to car shows. A guy I work with just had his TJ done for 1700 bucks complete. He found a guy that works at an auto body shop but does work on the side. Took the guy 2 weeks and he did a great job on it. That included a bit of body work too. Anything under 2k for a complete paint job on a Jeep is pretty good imo. There is a lot of prep and stuff involved, as I am sure you know. Good luck with it! :chug:

Good call and thanks, I don't need show quality just cleaned up...i rebuilt the tub myself 15 years ago and it has held up well. But it has more mew metal and bondo than oem metal so tearing into again isnt ideal...i am thinking new tub but most of my issues could be fixed to prevent rust then covered with armor. I am thinking Poison Spyder armored up vs. a new tub.

We shall see...sorry for the thread hijack.

Cheers!

No worries. My tub is off a YJ. There is a lot to be said for having the original CJ tub, but sometimes the effort to keep it becomes pretty involved. I bought my CJ with the YJ tub, and it seems like they did a good job on the swap. Good luck with whatever you decide to do. I like armor but every time I see it I think it is just concealing rot

Thanks man. I didn't even really want a new bumper but I need tow points and that was the best solution. It was cheap. I think it was AMC 150 bucks or something. Smittybilt I think. My buddy owns the Jeep shop and he ordered it for me. Its really basic but I think it turned out pretty well. :chug:

I am pretty sure it is this one:

That's one of my favorite references to make when I'm upgrading parts. :chug:

Just make sure you "push the little red button" when you really need to get some in 4WD.

 I loved those hubs when I had them on my old D30.

:D And the MM were actually old and busted, because the left side just stopped working the last time I wheeled. It would lock, but wouldn't go back to free. Instead of figuring it out I got the Warns. I wanted to go 6 bolts (studs now) from the five anyway. :chug:
