1968 CJ5: all stock (V6/T86/D18/D27/D44) except 4bbl & headers and rear aux tank, HD rear 44 housing, Warn OD, Belleview winch, Whitco top (New Blue)

1968 CJ5: mostly stock (V6/T90/D18/D27/D44), unknown make 3" lift springs, 11" Bendix brakes, Warn OD, unknown electric winch, Kayline tire/jerry can carrier, Bestop Super Top (Old Blue)


1947 2A and 49 3A that may or may not get built, and several FC/wagon derelicts
We escaped for 4 days over the 4th and hit South Meadow Creek in sw MT. Although there were Jeeps involved, they were XJ and JK. Some random photos:

The Tobacco Root Mountains are a pretty neat place. Many miles of old mining roads, mines, and an occasional mill but also some large areas of roadless. It's relatively easy to wheel in and then do a short backpack trip and really be by yourself, excepting the wildlife of course, including grizzles. On S. Meadow, we load the camp gear in a canoe and camp well up the lake.

Those mountains were my first wheeling experience when my father somehow stuffed 3 kids and my mother in a 2A and made a run up North Meadow in either 1950 or 51 (yep, I'm an old fart). We camped at the New Deal Mine that trip and fished Twin and McKelvey Lakes. I've been back just about every year since. Time hasn't been too kind to most of the mining structures over the last 60+ years and a large share of them are now flat on the ground.
