1980 CJ5 here. Fiberglass body was swapped on before I got it and I'm told it was torn completely down before rebuilding. It looks as though that is the case too, because much of the wiring harness has labels on it (assuming someone labeled everything so they knew where it had to go when it was time for reassembly).

I picked up THIS set of flush-mount LED tail lights. When I went to install them, I discovered the birds nest of wiring underneath the Jeep. I knew it was bad, but it was worse than I had originally thought. So I pulled everything out and proceeded with wiring everything up again, but ran into an issue. I can't figure out the turn signal wiring.

Can someone please look at the wiring listed below and tell me what I'm missing? Please ignore the "zip tie" wire colors. That's just my way of differentiating a few wires that are the same color.

Lights:
White = Ground
Black = Tail/Running
Green = Brake

Jeep harness:
Black w/ red zip tie = reverse
Black w/ yellow zip tie = tail/running
Black w/ purple zip tie = left turn
White = ground
Green = brake (but also pulses up to 12V when right turn signal is on??)

Does this all seem right?

Starting with the driver's side tail light, I connected the white on the light and the white on the harness for ground. I connected green on the light to green on the harness for brake. I connected black on the light to black w/ yellow zip tie for running lights. These all work. What do I connect the black w/ purple zip tie to in order to get the left signal to work?

And then when it comes to the passenger side light, I'm assuming I Y the wires and run them to the other side, correct? But I'm still lost when it comes to the passenger side (right) turn signal.

Reverse lights are not a problem. They work just fine.

I'm happy I'm taking the time to clean everything up, but this is driving me nuts!

Thanks in advance for any help you can give!
