Picked up another CJ5 yesturday. Now I have a project 68' that I'm restoring, and one that I can drive now It's a 72'. It's lifted with new 35x12.50 Thornbirds, lockers front and rear, AMC 304 , and ready for mud! I traded my R1 for it. I'll send pics tomarrow.:D

Thanx. I offically hate you.

Just kidding! Awesome that you grabbed another. Multiple Jeeps are where its at. :notworthy: Sometime in the somewhat near future I'll be adding another myself. :D

You are an inspiration to all of us that just want to get the one we have working and on the road. :D

I hear you on the "Just trying to get one jeep on the road." My 68' jeep is far, far, from being in any condition to hit road or trail. And has been sitting in many pieces for a couple years. My goal is to have it trail ready a year from now. I have a hard time being patient, and doing it right when I'm in a hurry to get out on the trail. Now I can pace myself, and still have something to take out in the woods.:) All my parts from my 68' and 72' will be interchangable, that will make things easier when digging around for parts.

Oh yeah, my wife was not pleased with my new cj sitting in the driveway when she got home from work. I told her I wanted to trade my bike for a more economical vehicle, but I just couldn't resist this one. :D

Tell her "don't judge you...you have an addiction"...

That is one of my favorite quotes from the TV show Earl

wow, a 68, killer year, one of the transition years. You will find that a few things can be either one way or another on that jeep, gas tank location, windshield wipers etc. Either way can be correct as jeeps seem to make changes slowly as they always used up the parts bin.
Is it a V6 or a 4 popper?
Congrats on the 72, sounds like an entirely new venture to just empty every pocket into

It's an AMC 304 , with what I was told, PO said the engine had less then 20,000. New intake/carb/manifolds, Don't see any leaks, sounds great. The jeep handles very squirrelly on the pavement, with the 35's. The lugs on those thornbirds are huge! And yes Coloradocj, I do have an addiction! Unfortunately, It's an addiction my wife doesn't understand at this point in time.

Tell the wife it is more economical, as in no speeding tickets;). I am super jealous. I want a lot more but need to get my first one finished.

The Jeeper in me says awesome purchase but the biker/ trackday junkie in me says damn you for selling and awesome bike!!

I didn't want to sell it either. I'll buy another one soon, or trade my 72' for another bike after I get my 68' built how I want it. :D
Tried to take pics yesturday, but my camera died. I'll try again tomarrow.

what baja said lol

Here are some pics. The cj still has some things I need to change, but I think it's off to a fairly good start. #1 issue I think is the suspension. I'll start a new thread on my issues with that in the suspension section. And feel free to make your sarcastic comments on the color scheme.:D I hate the colors, and all the chrome. I'm thinking of getting my rattle cans out!
The steering looks like a solid job. Power steering, and what I believe is High Steer. It seems to turn the tires well with almost no play at all. Engine seems well maintained and runs strong. The only real rust issues I see right now is the body mount underneath the drivers side seat. It supposely has front and rear lockers, but I know nothing about lockers and how to check without taking off the diff covers. The front axle is I believe a Dana 30 (Open Knuckle) don't know about the rear yet, and haven't cleaned the underside to pull numbers for Transfer Case /tranny. Input welcome, oh yeah, they're 33's not 35's

sounds great, I to have the same problem, got a 60 CJ5 with tons of money in it, but always wanted a CJ3b "high hood" ( haters should just click off right now ) was on a chat room for singles and started talking about jeeps and this fellow comes on and tells me he has a CJ3b for sale, I want it but dont have the $ for it, he says that he will take payments and keep the title till payed off, now comes the interresting part, he tells me his girlfriend says its either the jeep or him, now read back to the chat room for singles, so I dont want to blow the deal and make a cyber hand shake, send him a hundred dollars promise money, and he says come get the jeep, so I drive 400 miles to her place where it was stored in the garage, and this jeep is parts in boxes but the body has been taken off the frame and a new floor pan has been welded in and all new bushing installed, and a PTO attched to the trasfercase, yes its going to be a summer project but its going to be the one Ive waited for, will try to get some pic up soon

My 68' was supposed to be the project, and this one I wanted to be able to wheel right away. Now it looks like I won't be wheeling this until I fix the suspension issue. Wirenut-Good luck with your Hi- Hood! I love those things!

sweet :)Jeep

Paint scheme is a little odd but just rattle can the blue to black and it would look alright. Id be fixing that suspesion too if I were you.

Suspension is at the very top of my list, I don't plan on using it anymore until I get it fixed. Next on the list is getting rid of those horrible colors!
