Do Alternators dislike water? I know it shouldn't seem like an alternator being electrical piece of equipment would like water, but I'm sure they should be somewhat resilient?
I submerged the passenger side of the jeep while running, and now my brand new alternator is not charging again...
Once the tail pipes were back above water, i did try to re-start while alternator was still submerged, but there were other problems (see below)
So I'm wondering if I should be looking for a better "water-proof alternator, and/or making mounting brackets to raise it from lower passenger side of engine to higher passenger side of engine.
What does everyone else do? Stay out of deep water
This is the submerged pic...
I did fry my ignition streetfire box too, already tried disassembling and cleaning with electronics cleaner, power to it, but none out of it, so handled that already, but now no charge from alternator...
