I recently came across this alternator and I would like to put it in my CJ5 . But I can't find any info other then it's made in Germany and is possibly 136 amp model. When u look at the pictures there are 4 posts. The one in the brown square is the regulator(I am guessing) going clock wise the next one is marked D- the D+ then B+. I know B+ is battery positive but that's it. Any help would e greatView attachment 10269View attachment 10270View attachment 10271View attachment 10272

I'm curious, do you want to use it because it you already have it, or do you want to use it because of the "possibility" of it being an 136 Amp Alt? For off- road use, a higher max output isn't what you seek, per se. Higher output at lower revs is the "grail".

Is it 12V neg ground? Any other legible distinguishing marks? What about the fan? Looks like a marine alt to me.

Lots of dirt cheap Delco 10 and 12SI Alts are available, via junkyards or parts houses. Other slightly-larger frame Alts will generally outperform hi-output max-load alts as well.

Hope you can find the info you want.:) Every Jeep is a project.;)

I would be concerned about a part that I could not replace easily in what ever small town I was in.

the altenator is from a forklift. it was free and i thought it would possibly be a good replacement for my stock 60 amp altenator.

Start googling the model forklift it came from, some sort of wiring diagram is sure to be found from the manufacturer.

If not the parts list will usually name the alternators manufacturer.

And make sure it's electrically compatible with your Jeep.

What makes you think it's a good candidate for your jeep?

But I can't find any info other then it's made in Germany and is possibly 136 amp model.

And it's from a forklift. Must have slipped your mind. Again, why do you think it is a good match for your Jeep?

Im not positive, but you may burn every wire on that jeep hooking that thing up...

njdave, if you're looking for more amps, personally I'd look at mid 90's GM's with CS133 or CS144 from a junk yard for $20 +/-. You'll get the amps your looking for and it's easier to find at a parts house when it fails.

I know the propane forklifts are all 12 volt systems. I think it came out of a cat or Toyota. But maybe I will try the gm alternator the CS number is the part number for them?

njdave, check this thread out Alternator upgrade??? - JeepForum.com, Jeephammer is a pretty sharp dude. Correction, I called it a CS133, my bad . I went the CS144 route because I like overkill, but you will need to cut, bend, and re-weld the bracket to make it fit.It wasn't that much work to make it fit, but if I had it to do over I would've gone with a CS130. HTH :chug:

Thanks yeah jeephammer is great. I've done nearly all the mods he recommends that u can to my jeep
