OK, here's what I have: '79 CJ7 AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l , T-150 , Dana 20 Transfer Case , stock Dana 30 and AMC20 rear. I have the opportunity to purchase a '91 Grand Wagoneer with 360, 727 AT, Dana 44 's front and rear. He said it had a NP225 Transfer Case , but I think he meant an NP229. I would like to transplant the drivetrain from the GW to the CJ. I know it will cost $$$, but will it work? I already have a 360 in the garage for a build. My main question is, my Dana 30 is a passenger drop and the GW Dana 44 is a Driver's side drop. Is this a problem? I know nothing about the NP229, but its mounted to the 727. Oh, and the cost of the Grand Wagoneer, $400, actually he just wants to trade a hunting rifle that I never use. Sorry this is so long.

It can be done, and the drivers side drop don't matter if you use the tcase from the waggy you'll just have drivers drop cj. And you'll have to outboard the springs I believe. You'll also have to have drive shafts made, the rear will be pretty short.

I figured I would need new driveshafts. With the Transfer Case on the left, will I encounter problems with the floor shifter to the Transfer Case ? Do they make twin sticks for it? I do not claim to be an expert on this. I appreciate the input.
