I was just wondering how I would price an AMC20 and Dana 30 out of a 79 CJ7 ... But these are not your typical rears... 14,000 original miles from 1979.. Beautiful condition, no problems at all... I'm actually selling them for a friend... How would I price these bad boys?

Don't worry, if you're too high everyone will let you know....
or you'll get no response.
NT Dana 30 complete with disc brakes and six bolt locking hubs, $200-$250 out here.
The AMC20 , $100...or less.
But in actuality, they're only worth what someone is willing to pay.

What do you mean by "not your typical gears"? Do you mean they aren't one of the Jeep ratio's (2.73,3.07,3.31,3.54,3.73,4.10,4.56)?

Doesn't really matter how clean or low miles, if they are stock rears you will be lucky to get $300 for both, most of that for the 30. The 20 will usually get you more at the scrap yard than from another jeeper.

thats what i did with mine :( thought someone would want to use them, but there kinda common, and these weren't special. just bone stock.

They could be NOS axles and they still wouldn't sell for much money. I remember when Scout Dana 44 front's would fetch $800. Now it's hard to get more than $AMC 150 for them.

Don't scrap them. Someone might be interested in them who's doing an OEM restoration, but don't plan on getting big $$$ for them either. Unless you're dealing with a purist or someone who has a busted axle there is almost no demand for a NT AMC20 /Dana 30 combo.

Somewhere out there is a guy who has the same setup you do with a busted axle. It's almost cheaper to buy a whole used assembly than it is to fix these things.

I bought a used Dana 30 WT with aftermarket hubs and new brakes for what the brake pads/rotors cost. Need to find an AMC20 with 3.31's to match it so I can swap the set in for my 2.73's, but in no hurry to do it, and won't spend more than $100 on one unless it's got 1 pieces and/or a locker, and even then maybe $250 tops.

So somebody's taking a 14K mile original CJ7 and dumping the original axles? That's just wrong......:(
