My jeep has the Superior one piece axle kit that the PO installed. The passender side axle seal has started to leak so I am planning on replacing the seals and bearings. Can I use factory replacements even though that kit has been installed?

No, you have to use the bearings for the 1 piece shafts. With Superior out of business, I've had good luck using the Moser kit on Superior shafts. Or you can try Revolution gear, my understanding is it's ran by some of the folks from Superior.

Check the bearing's 'race' & the bearing, to see if there might be a number on it.
Good luck. :chug:

Those bearings can be had at most any auto parts store. I prefer napa. I don't have the number off hand but if you take it in or find a number they can match it up.

I think they are set 9 bearings. But my understanding is the retainer from an off the shelf bearing retainer needs to be modified. Don't remember exactly how or why, I think it's either too wide or too large OD

The Jeep has factory Limited slip (trac lok I think). Does this require friction modifier? If so, which one?

Yes, it's supposed to get friction modifier. But a lot of gear lube comes with the friction additive already in it, so check your gear lube first.

But honestly, if it's all original and never been rebuilt, then the clutches are most likely shot anyway so it won't matter if you add it or not.

I assume its been rebuilt because it works really well.
