I have looked into this a little but have yet to dig in. A lil scard becasue i just got my 76 CJ5 back on the road and dont want to put it down again until i know what im doing. I need to replace a leaky seal on my dif. Looks like i have to detach the drive shaft, loosen the pinion nut, and pull the yoke....Do i need to pull the bering and race before i get to the seal? Just looking on Morris 4x4 and thats what it looks like but reading a little bit online, people say you dont have to. Any good write ups on this? Or can someone help me out with some instructions. my rear axle is an AMC20 . Thanks for the help in advance.

Your good to go, pull the shaft, then the pinion nut and then the yoke. Yank out the seal and replace. Torque the pinion nut back to factory spec.

Go to the linked page it is the 76 service manual, it is a site link on this site to by the way, it would be nice to get a big enough wrench to hold the yoke when you are torquing the pinion nut(I have had my cars try to roll while trying to torque the nut) page 14 and 15 cover pinion seal replacement it is not to difficult to do or time consuming
