Remember this isn't a drag car where every bit of horse power is important. You have to live with this Jeep hopefully for a long time. Solid mounts transmit every bit of engine vibration into the vehicle making life miserable in the long run.

The poly mounts are supposed to handle engine oil and other vehicle related chemicals better than rubber. With that being said inexpensive ol' rubber mounts last a very long time.

Put the mounts on the engine before dropping the engine in. I like to leave every thing loose. Being loose allows you to wiggle things around some while the engine is finding it's home. when she's close, but the wrench to the mounts snugging things down.

Your advice is much appreciated, I over think this stuff at times. Here is what I know.

OE rubber replacement $20 for a set.
Solid mount $80
Poly $175-$200

The 2-3 sets or rubber I have here don't appear to have any damage. I think I'll go rubber.

My advice exactly. It really isn't clear to me why the poly mount costs so very much. The rubber mounts work and have worked for a very long time.

I honestly don't know if it makes a real difference but I mounted the tab up. The configuration you show in your first pictures look correct to me.

I'm not sure it does either. I looked at a 6 cyliner mount and a wagoneer at a local shop yesterday. Both were different in terms of the rubber placement too. I ordered another set from morris instead of summit to see if they are different. i'm after the ones that CJ showed, the book and the ones that came with the CJ V8 mounts I purchased.

I spoke with my Jeep guy tonight about your restrictor plate question. He sais that the old mounts had a separate restrictor plate, but the new mounts have the plate molded into the plate already. I was worried about this because my recent 360 install did not include a restrictor plate. The AMC 304 didn't have a plate on the mount so I never considered installing one. This thread had me worried. He assured me that there wasn't anything to worry about.

Thanks for doing some research. That makes sense to me. I guess I'm all Restrictor plated up. The one on the mount facing down and the original up.
