Since buying my '79 CJ7 over a month ago, I have quite successfully converted the booster to a YJ (what a tremendous upgrade), and am now re-wiring the spaghetti mess that the PO(s)? left for me under the dash and near the tail lights.

Anyway, this weekend I started to remove multiple dashboard toggles and switches which were abandoned and I came across this:

This switch had no knob on it and was removed from the far left side of the dash above the speaker. All wires were cut by PO(s).

Anyone have a clue?

that^^^^ or some sort of old blower motor switch. that is a weird one. is their some sort of after market heater or air conditioner on the jeep?
Not aftermarket heater nor any A/C. Very interesting though!

Looks like a 4-gang potentiometer commonly use for balance contro for a stereo. The give away is the gray and green wires that are commonly used for speakers. Follow the wires.

But what there before? You did say it is not hooked up now. BTW - a rheostat (resister unit) is used as a wiper motor or fan motor speed control (sorry, me engineer side came through). :)

Good eye! Missed the gray and green / gray w black stripe & green w black stripe wires... :notworthy:

If the shaft pushes in, I suspect a fader and balance combo. . .

Yep, standard Pioneer an the old Jenson speaker colors... Brings back memories! Remember when the "Triax" was the killer speaker? :chug:

All the wires were cut, it is pictured as I found it. All speakers in Jeep are aftermarket with new wire too.

Oh yea!! I had Pioneer Triax speakers in my '71 Mazda 616, they rocked!
