Haven’t posted much, as both the site & tapatalk app here give me fits... finally got it working on Tapatalk.

I’ve been out of the wheeling hobby for awhile, due to an accident 7yrs ago (ran over loading my YJ Crawler onto a trailer) then shuffled between jeeps & projects. I’ve finally got my 84 to point of reliable trail & street rig & trying to rebuild my group of wheeling buddies!

I’m located in Roanoke VA & looking for some who like to wheel, even if its a fire road or stock friendly.

I’m not really interested in “joining a club” as I have my own, it just kind of went dormant after my accident.

Thanks. It is my DD. Here is my wife’s toy we picked up this spring. ‘49 3a. Just starting to play with it. Added a spare tire mount, and mirrors. That is about it so far.

Awesome! My next one will either be a 6 that my buddy has needing some love or finding a 8 to build.

Another buddy who I built a XJ for recently bought a 53 3a

I would like a 6. I like the long Jeeps.

The 3a is fun. Not made for commuting for sure. But always puts a smile on my face when I drive it.

It sucked, broke left leg in 3 places. Rod in my tibia, permanent cartiladge damage that is degenerative... was a 1 second lapse of judgement.

The black YJ was the one that i did it with.

Ouch. Sorry to hear. But glad it was the leg and not the torso or higher.

Ouch is right. Dam YJs. Just goes to show you, you can't trust em. Did you take it out back and shoot it ? Glad you are getting around now, and it n a CJ

Haha! I kept it for another 3 mo after accident then traded for a built XJ... that was a disaster, traded XJ a year later for the above posted 84 CJ7 . Had it 6yrs come Jan 2019.

It's funny - we see pics posted from all over the country...... and this one just looks local. Looks like what I see everywhere here... LOL. For a second I thought I'd try to figure out where it was taken, but quickly decided that would be impossible.

Glad you're back up and Jeepin

Welcome! I'm only 5 miles from VA, but a long ways from Roanoke

Saw pics of your leg from 4 years ago when you got the screws removed. Good news on your recovery.

Did you every put the 5 screws you took home to good use?

I would have used 4 to screw down the center console. :D

Thanks! Screws are still floating around in the bag they were sent home in.

I’ve debated buying back the YJ that caused them... If I do, they’re definitely going in it.

How did you get run over by loading your jeep?

When ADD meets perfectionism...

I was wheeling & ran out of gas. We had enough to get me back to the blacktop, but not enough for my 2 1/2mi trip home. Since rig wasn’t tagged at the time, I opted to go back & grab my trailer vs risking a ticket during higher traffic time.

Had rig on trailer but wasn’t happy with where it was sitting. I decided to sit on door sill & bump the starter (had done it before, knew Jeep liked to crank atleast 1-2x before firing)... however fate & stupidity combined into it firing up as soon as I hit the key. I tried to crab clutch with my hand but was too late, so bailed off side of the trailer.

The 38x14.50 TSL SXs grabbed my boots & the rest is history.

Was a stupid idea, i knew better then & further reinforced all the safety lessons over a lifetime. Lucky it wasn’t worse & lucky my wife who was 8wk preg. at the time & saw it first hand didn’t miscarry our son, due to her histerical reaction.

Oh, man. I can only imagine the stress levels of all involved!!
