ON THE HUNT AGAIN
If you've done a junk yard TBI swap or know how it's setup post up.
I'm trying to figure out the wiring needed and which distributor setup to go with. I'd like the computer to control timing/spark.

Thanks

That is one thing I have never done. I would think that if you want the GM computer to control the timing / spark you would have to do a HEI mod too.

My plan is to post up the wiring harness, chopped with how to, links and such.
Then what I did, and info.
That way those with a similar setup can run with it.

In addition to the junk yard harness, thottlebody and computer.

My parts list:
Coolant temp sensor- pn# su109
O2 sensor Bosch pn# 12014
O2 sensor weld in bung/ring pn# bk 3353686
Fuel pump masters pn# e2182
30 amp relay for fuel pump
fuel pump blockoff plate mr gasket pn# 1516
map sensor su105 (mine already has it)
TBI gasket set pn# 96-3013a
1 pin weathertight connector msd pt# 8174 (for o2 sensor)
3' 1/4" fuel line for return
6' 3/8" fuel line supply
fuel filter
TPS already on throttlebody

Not including junkyard parts, the list above is about $250.
I'll have about $350 - $400 in it when I'm finished.
That beats the hell out of $1200 anyday.

That's great! We can add it to the articles section...

looks like that site is going down soon. CJ, maybe there is a way for you to host his technical articles over here? It could give us a jump-start on the technical section...

this was the one i was looking at.BustedJeep.Com - In The Garage

I'm using some info from that site, but chopping the harness isn't in detail.
BTW, I saved that page on my computer so if it eats it I still have a copy.
Recommend those who are interested in doing it do the same.

I got the harness mostly chpped last night.
The pin out i'm using is located in this thread:
http://www.jeep-cj.com/forums/f49/useful-info-thought-id-share-665/

Between the pin out, the bustedjeep site, and sensors attached to the harness, chopping was easy. They are using a 90 and earlier harness for the pin out as far as I can tell, my harness is a '92 and had a couple wires that was a different color. The hard part is the misc. feeds spliced in a couple different lines. I'll post up a how to once it's attached and working, I'm not wanting to give out bad info.

I contacted the owner... We'll see what Brian says...

its sad that alot of the good tech sites are going away. i have a bunch of info like brock. i have a folder on my comp of just tech info. i think between him and i we should have everyone covered.lol

Here's a link to my old build thread details....

Foxtrot's CJ-7 Site

The Jeep developed a vacuum leak on my home brew adapter, so decided to step it up a few notches...it wasn't perfect, so I did a CNC 3D surface blend to port match the TBI to the AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l intake...
I made a few spares...if anyone wants to wake up their AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l . Can do one for the AMC 304 or 360 too if anyone has an intake I can measure....

Cheers,

Chris
