Just curious if anyone has had anything made from a CNC shop as in on a mill or lathe. Wanting to do some projects myself just really don't know what to even start with.

Most shops want an AutoCad(.dxf) file of the part.

Have you looked into emachine?

Just 1 part can get expensive due to the setup time and programming.

Some plasma cut CNC parts can be more reasonable.

I've never had a shop make anything for me as custom parts would cost way to much as most shops are at least $60 and hour or more.
I'm a toolmaker by trade though, and can make my own parts on my own time. I've made my own alt. and power streering brackets, a pinion yoke holder and pionion nut remover, spindle bearing remover. Some bearing and seal instaler tools, things like that. I also made my own winch fairlead. I've redrilled a few axles and rotors for different bolt patterns and redrilled my Transfer Case adapter to clock it up.
I'm sure I've forgotton some things but you get the idea, just things I needed and didn't want to buy.

the CJ experience is an exercise in creativity and resourcefulness.

And an excuse to buy more tools (toys).

you may surprise yourself with what you can do with a torch, welding machine and a drill press.

Thats pretty neat...I was thinking about doing something a long those lines because we have a laser at work also I was thinking more of Eugene the Jeep from popeye though....

I wonder how hard it would be to turn some new drive shafts. :chug:

If you make any Eugene's let us know.

oh haha yes, my bad I figured it was some kind of idk jeep part that I had never heard of but most definitely I will and will post pictures I'm just trying to find the perfect place to put it on the jeep once done. The shop is thinking about getting a 3d printer which would be awesome to make a Eugene on but heres the pic of what I am going to try and design under the laser and maybe make a side emblem.
