Well, since we've just had our first snow here in Pa., I was wondering who all plows snow with their CJs... I just picked up a classic Meyers plow for mine, it needs some clean-up and a little re-painting, but it should do the trick ;)
Came off another '79 CJ, and I think it's pretty cool with the bullet style 7" headlights, and I'll find a pair of matching turn signals pretty quick after it's all cleaned up. So let's see 'em if you got 'em!!

I have the same plow. Didn't hardly snow down here last winter, I bought this last fall because of the insane snows of 2 years ago. My CJ7 in my profile pic has the plow lights on the A-frame. You've got to keep the hydraulic fluid topped off. I had fun wiring the switch (tough to locate a good schematic), I mounted the old school twin toggles right on the dash board (myers e-47).

The height of the lower frame is very important, just search jeep snow plow forum. Also important to have the right tires, I've learned that mine are a little too wide (35 x 12.5 x 15). I tend to ride on the snow and not through it.

The one good storm we did have last year, my clutch was out for 2 weeks, so that sucked.

I also had stiffer shocks than stock put in the front end..to hold the weight. I can jump on my bumper and the thing barely moves.

Very cool sight! A lot of good info there, and it's bookmarked... Yours looks a bit different than mine, I see yours are the bullet style too, but mine are the same size as the CJ headlights, they're huge! I'd like to find a different blade for it, it's only 6-1/2' wide. I have the original switches too, that mount on the bottom edge of the dash. It has the big toggle extension levers, the switches themselves are coming apart but they look pretty standard. I've had several plows in the past but never on a Jeep, always on big trucks. I have 35-12.50 BFG Mud Terrains on my Jeep and I've had pretty good luck with that size on my other trucks, although the Jeeps aren't as heavy so we'll see. I don't have much to plow.

So let's see some more! Anyone else??

Wow, so I guess it's just you and me with the plows, JLCBikes... hard to believe, with aaaall the people on this forum that we're the only two with plows on our CJs...

I plowed up here in Wisconsin with my 60 CJ3b and Meyers 6 ft T-5 for 13 years. The old CJ3b rotted out and I sold her but kept the plow. I then plowed for a few years with a Western 7 foot on my Dodge M880 and then on my Ford F150. I missed the compactness and maneuverability of the CJ so now I am installing the old Meyers on my 60 CJ5 . But looks like I forgot how the frame attachment bolted up to the chassis.

Can't help you with the bracket question but did want to say :ww: to our site wesk! :chug:

Well, Wesk, I wish I could help you out, but my plow is still sitting in the back of my pickup, and my Jeep is still in pieces in my back yard, but going together.. I'll try to get the bracket out and start trying to figure it out soon. But maybe someone else knows??

LOL, omg what the hell was the triple post thing about??? I thought I only pushed the button once! :D

Look over your brackets real well, too. We were admiring my $400 plow in the back of my truck the other day, and noticed a couple cracks in the horseshoe shaped lifting bracket, right above the beefier portion that actually mounts to the top of the frame. I had them re-welded here at work, but that metal is much thinner than the rest of the steel on my plow, and I guess 30yrs of holding and lifting the plow finally took it's toll.

Got my plow frame laid out and coated in rust reformer after an aggressive wire brushing. Had to weld a couple of cracks in the lift frame the other day.

that bracket goes BEHIND the front diff

Which bracket are you talking about? The two that look alike, that support the lower plow mount? Do you mean the short leg on those brackets mounting behind the diff, onto the frame? I haven't got it mounted yet, I still need to swap my springs front to rear.. PO screwed that up when he put them in, but then I'll get it mounted.
