I met a couple of club members at one of the campgrounds in the park, It is located in South Central SoCal. One had a JK and the other an early Bronco. The campground I picked had three hot pools for old bones after two days of wheeling, but we could have camped pretty much anywhere. The park is about 25 miles wide by 50 miles across, they claim to have 500 miles of dirt roads with a various challenges, with some I will not attempt. My objective was to find a location where everyone in the club could have a good trip, which I did find with a little research.

Yep, been there before. I know it's a big place and I'm not sure exactly where (it was the mid 80's) we were but I remember it having more trees. I had a map but its been long thrown out. Not much use for it in Pa.!

More pics:
We cruised thru a what appeared to be an abandoned mine with an old Jeep truck that had no bullet holes in it! After a trail ride we came across a damsel in distress, so I pulled her out of a hole that she dug.

That truck looks like it needs someone to drag it home and show it some love.

Thank you for the pics and report! It's been on my radar for a future trip. How many people did you encounter? I usually look for places to go where we will not likely see another person for 4-5 days.

Thanks for the pics!
The truck is a 1956

That truck looks in real good shape. Who would have ownership to that? I'm surprised someone hasn't hauled that away by now.

Torx - Do these pics look like they could be from the AB area? I have a bunch of pics but no locations recorded, only my failing memory!

Pa, those pics did not come up on my screen.
Hole, I think you woul d want to avoid the Octillo Wells SVRA on weekends. It is also home to the Terra Del Sol Desert Safari, which for the past 50 some years has been one of the largest Jeeping events in the nation. Other than that most of the trails require a street legal rig. I thought the trails were pretty light as far as crowds go.
For me this is the gem of the park:goat canyon trestle - Bing Images
But requires a steep hike and 4wd vehicle.

Can anyone else see those 3 pics I posted? Must be because they were linked to a fb addy.
That is a cool tressle. Can you imagine being the train engineer that was first to cross that after it was built!!! Can we assume they still use it today, based on the train pics?

Pa, they did come up on my home computer. It is possible that they were taken in the Rodriguez/Oriflamme Canyon Trails where the desert climbs into the mountians near Julian, Ca,

Yes, I see them on my phone. Now that we are pictures, I do notice certain members pictures never fit the screen where most will fill my screen. Meaning when I click to zoom, I get the same 1"x 1" picture and spreading my fingers(manual zoom) only results in a fuzzy picture. Wouldn't the truck belong to the state or is the park privately owned?

The second pic in your signature comes up as the dreaded x. Maybe something you have saved to your computer?

It does on mine also I thought maybe it was a secret :D

Yes, yes you must have a level 5 security clearance to see that one. You can apply for one at the NSA. Just give them your user name. They have all your other info already!

Not sure why 2 out of 3 work. They're all from the same location on facebook. Computers!!! Here it is again, maybe it will work without the other two.

Pete, the pic that is missing in my signature is one that I deleted out of my gallery. I did not realize that it would affect the sig pic and I recently added another.
