A bad day fishing is better the a good day at work!

Spent about elven hours out in the gulf yesterday, water temp was just shy of 65 so it was a little cool. Caught a few black seabass and a few mangrove snappers that we could take home. Everything else was out of season. S caught two butt ugly ML fish and the biggest octopus I have ever seen.

Chris caught the nicest fish (beautiful Red Snapper) but we had to let it go as it was out of season... Sigh... :( Blackened would have been better with a boat load of butter! :)

Looks like nice weather (t-shirts!), Id like to be there about right now....It could have been worse, you could have been on lake Michigan, freezing your but off...! I just got done unloading a truck, with a winter jacket, gloves and a knit hat on....

Hey CJ, you know there are times I just hate you.

No wonder the cell phone reception was so crappy. :) Wouldve loved to be there.

Was it just once or twice? I love going out on some of the boats down in Va. Beach. Granted they only take you along the coast line but its alot of fun. :D
not me man, last time i went deep sea fishing i got sea sick and stayed that way, just on the ocean though. lake or river im good.

If you are worried about getting sea sick, take the dramamine the night before and right when you get up in the morning. That way, it is in your system before you hit the water.

Even better is the patch you put behind your ear, again, it helps to do that the night before. My Dr. just wrote the prescription after I asked. I have done both methods for deep sea fishing and never had a problem, even on a 48 hour tuna trip in 8-10' seas.

Its that CheepJeep85 whos the puker!! But thanx for the advice that could be useful to the land lovers :)

Sorry about that, I quoted the wrong person with my reply. I think that is who I was trying to quote though.

I can't wait to get out of this cold midwest weather and off to the Ocean in less than four weeks! What part of the Gulf are you fishing? My dad does a lot of offshore fishing off the south end of Fla with his neighbor, on the Gulf side and the Atlantic side.

We were in the gulf. Going to hit the Atlantic in a month or so. We will head on out of Melborne Fl. We'll do some trolling for big game. :)

Happy Hunting!

When my dad built his house on Marco Island, he had the good fortune to move in next door to a seriously talented retired sport fisherman. My dad was never much for fishing prior to that, but he's been bringing in a lot of big game over the past couple years when he goes out with his neighbor, and he really loves it. We were invited to go fishing with him last year when we were visiting, but unfortunately we already had plans to drive to the keys that day to do some diving. Don't get me wrong, I live to scuba dive, but I've been doing that since the 80's while I've never been deep sea fishing. One of these days we'll plan a trip with an extra day scheduled just for that. I've always wanted to spend the day fighting with a marlin are big tarpon! :D
