Hey guys just wondering if you guys could help me troubleshoot something here. My AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l burns oil, a lot of it. Here's where it's at. On a cold start everything's ok. But after a minute or two she starts burning and keeps burning. It's not bad going down the road but at idle it's brutal. There isn't a whole lot of oil in my cylinders and they all test at 120 - 140 PSI for compression. My plugs get fowled after 1000miles or so with a lot of ash. What you think the problem most likely is? Rings? Valve seals? Guides? Any help would be great.

You have good compression, so I would look at pulling the head and check valve seals and guides.

With good compression, Im inclined to think its the guides.

Usually if the valve seals or guides are bad it will smoke at start-up.
I would check your pcv system to see if your sucking oil in there. Pull the hose off and see if theres oil in it.
