Bed mounted gas tank....

Anybody else using a bed mounted gas tank? The PO put an 8 gallon gas tank in the bed and I'm not really sure how i feel about it. I guess it's a lil safer than being under the seat.

(Opps. I thought your jeep was a 1972 or newer when I wrote this. Still put the tank back where it came from and then it can at least vent properly.) Can you say burn baby burn? Two things, in a crash or rollover if any gas leaks out of the tank it may just be flame on. Kind of like the Chevy pickups with the tank behind the seat; many have fried over that one as the gas sloshes throughout the cab upon impact. The second is close to the first one but a little different in that the tank needs to vent which could be almost as bad as the fumes escape from the tank and permeate the interior when the top is on. Put the tank back where it belongs.

Looks like my wheelbase was stretched out to 91" and the diff is right where the tank would be.....joy

If you really mean it has a "gas tank" I would get rid of it and get a fuel cell for safety.

It's just a small 8 gallon round tank. I think I'm going to install a 15 gallon fuel cell.
