Do jeeps have all the same bellhousings ? like can i pull the I6 and drop in a 360? also ive noteced that some came with a GM Turbo 400 is that a chevy BP or jeep?

Yep all AMC I6 and V8 have the same bell housing bolt pattern. Swap away! The TH 400 out of a Jeep will have a Jeep pattern, not Chevy except for the ones that came in 1971 and older Commandos with the V6 and FSJ of the same vintage that came with the Buick V8. They will be a GM pattern.

I’m not all that GM savvy on the nuances between the sub-brands. I know that the 1968 +/- Pontiac Firebirds V8s had another GM flavor motor in them and they got sued for big money. I’m sure the attorneys ended up with most of the money but the only difference I could see was which side of the block the oil dipstick was on. Jeep use to beg barrow and steal parts from whomever they could get them from so they had a lot of GM and Ford parts in them over the years. The old odd fire V6 was a GM motor that after a few years of supplying Jeep the motors they actually sold the tooling to Jeep so they could build them but Jeep sold the tooling back when GM needed a small engine in put in their cars to compete with Toyota during the Iranian oil embargo but by then Kaiser had sold Jeep to AMC and the AMC I6 & V8 we all know and love today became the motor of choice.
