Vehicle(s)
1981 CJ8 Scrambler - AMC 360, T-176, SOA YJ, Det. Locker, 411s
1982 CJ7 to CJ8 Tube Chassis conversion, LS1, Currie 60s,e etc. ongoing
1986 CJ7 Renegade - last year w/ D44s, full cage.
Which is the best aftermarket CJ7 Full Width Axel Kit (I am not interested in the home made junk yard kits)? If you have installed ‘em – please tell us why you chose your aftermarket kit and how it is performing.

Keep in mind I want my CJ7 to have the better ride YJ leaf springs; I do NOT necessarily want a front bumper- but for apples to apples comparison - prices are listed as included, I already have a CJ shackle inversion and do prefer the ride / setup, I want to move my front axel forward, I want low COG not SOA; I am installing a Wagoneer Dana 44 front, obviously I will make the high tube front fender mod.s later, and I will be running 4:88s with no more than 37s.

1.> BLUE TORCH FAB: Kit# BTF07022 $529.99 before tax and shipping (front bumper incl.)
BTF Jeep CJ Full Width Axle Kit :: Blue Torch Fab
Pros: Shackle inversion, upgrade options
Cons: Shackle inversion, lame logo on bumper, expensive base kit, (not sure if it moves front axles forward).

2.> DAVE’s CUSTOM’s UNLIMITED: Kit #FWAKIT $475 before tax and shipping (front bumper incl.)
Dave's Customs Unlimited: CJ Full-Width Axle Kit
Pros: No Shackle inversion, “
Includes heavy-duty 1 1/2” diameter polyurethane shackle bushings and spacers for frame mounts”,…why can’t I use Kit#FWAKIT YJC for $200 - anybody?
Cons: No Shackle inversion, hideous ‘surf board’ of a bumper, does not move axle forward for additional clearance.

3.> POISON SPIDER CUSTOMS: Kit#11-20-010 before taxes and shipping $451 *note: RIVER CITY OFFROAD $410
http://shop.poisonspyder.com/CJ-Full-Width-Axle-Conversion-Kit-p/11-20-010.htm
Pros: Not necessarily, but provide for Shackle Inversion, leaf spring versatility – rear shackle hangers outboard and allows for 10 different shackle hanger mounting positions”, “front bracket also moves the front axle 1' forward”
Cons: not a Shackle Inversion, “weaker” rear weld on bracket, no front bumper – frame bar.

4.> M.O.R.E.MOUNTAIN OFFROAD Ent. Kit# 7686-FWK25 SRS w/ 2.5" YJ Springs before taxes and shipping $443
http://www.mountainoffroad.com/_e/F...FWK25/7686_FWK25_SRS_Kit_w_2_5_YJ_Springs.htm
Pro: Softer ride due to use with 2.5" YJ Springs on a CJ, SRS (shackle reversal system) where axle moves forward for better clearance, optional finishes, no surf board of a bumper, front leafs adjustable.
Cons: no bumper and no crossbar like Poison Spyder, less adjustability than Poison Spyder, front drive shaft will have to have a longer travel slip-yoke installed by a professional drive line builder, Shackle Inversion (SRS)

That's good, I liked that movie, anyhow, this forum isnt quite moving at the speed of light as far as post activity/readers/members yet. The CJ guys hanging out as a tiny minority at all the other 4x4 sites, havent seen this site yet... I was/is a member of a couple, and Cjs got little to no air time. Of course the Cjs are fewer and fewer as the years go by,,,, (rust!).

This is why i like wheeling with a CJ. not alot of people run them because of the old technology in them, but when you take your CJ down trails that the TJ's and JK's are struggling on and make it look easy, as i have once or twice, and the looks and comments you get make it worth it. although, i have been out wheeled by alot of TJ's due to there sick flex lol. i guess its all on the driver and his driving skills. risk alittle, do alittle, risk alot, achieve alot!:chug:

Dan at RuffStuff is a stand up guy. Anytime I need fab parts they are first ones I call.

They are simply.......The best IMHO.

I haven't done the outboard kit but I'm running the MORE shackle reversal kit for YJ springs in my CJ. I was impressed with the kit itself. The CJ isn't on the trails yet so I can't speak to the performance. But the kit seems very well designed and thought out. And their customer support is pretty good.

Yeah, I left 'that other CJ site' because there was so much chatter and mis-information. Some of those threads go back to the early '00s where for example outboarding kits didn't exist.

I think I saw 2,500 subscribers here. So the way I look at is (hopefully) our topics describe new technology for old problems.

I did a (not MORE) shackle inversions/reversal (which is still welded on the front of my Jeep) back in the day that it made a hugely, smoother feel especially at higher speeds Baja style. I am a big fan of inversion kits and non bent leaf springs!

How did it turn out-Jr might be looking to go full width on his '74
