Broke a rear window zipper on the Bestop this evening. :( The top manufacture date is 5/23/2011. Problem is that the top was purchased by the PO. What are my chances BesTop will do the right thing here and replace it for me?

I'm guessing slim to none, but I asked anyways. Sent pictures to customer service and will see what happens.

In the mean time, Is there a comparable soft top manufacturer out there that makes a product that will last longer than 14 months?

I'm interested to hear what the do, is it the window section or the top? Mine is so tight and difficult to put pieces on I am always surprised when it goes together without tearing/ripping.

I have never been real happy with Bestop zippers. I bought a new one for my CJ5 and my first camping trip with it after 4 days of dirt roads thay screwed up and I hand problems with them ever since. I will never buy one again. For what they cost I felt like I was ripped off. IMO

No reply back from BesTop customer support today. I gave them 24 hours and received no response to my question. I know I was asking for a replacement top even though the PO purchased the top. I think that at the price of their product, wanting it to last longer that 14 months isn't asking to much. But at the end of the day all they had to do was say "Sorry, but the warranty isn't transferable between owners" That is what I was expecting. I didn't even get a response.

For that I will not recommend or even send my money to Bestop in the future. As fellow Jeep owners, I would hope that you too learn from this and choose not to buy BesTop products.

Unfortunately it was the right side, which happens to have the zipper mechanism on the main portion of the top. If you look closely you will see the broken tooth on the zipper. This basically allowed the mechanism to fall right off.

:)Also if it is cold..........those tops shrink and that's when you have the problems with the zippers...............let it set in the sun for a while or put it in a heated space.

they are a PITA to put on in the weather you need one in.

If you don't buy Bestop, what are the alternatives?
