scrap built CJ7
I already know its crazy so you dont have to inform me but i have a CJ7 with SOA and a 3'' lift. now the steering link from the pitman arm to the knuckle is way off level aven with a 4'' drop and the springs hit the arm when i turn it to the right. does anybody make anything to fox this link or am i just screwed. PS high steer wont work either the springs are in the way there too. thanks in advance for the help

Get yourself some true high steer GM knuckles (or wagoneer). With those and the correct high steer arms. You will be able to clear the springs.
It will take some fab work. But you will be happier in the end.

alright o ive been doing some research and it seems like i can get stock knuckles out of a jy. new question, is there any Dana 44 front axle that is the same width as the stock and could come with the stock 3.73 gear ratio? the jeep will be a really big mall crawler honestly that will only occasionally see the trails but it will have 35'' or bigger and i only want to build it once.

Hmmm.
Yes those knuckles will fit a Dana 30 .
What is a jy? If you mean a YJ, then those aren't the knuckles you want.

I might have some parts you would be interested in. Where at in Ky are you? I work in Kentucky.

JY= Junkyard

:dunno:
If the acronym isn't used in my daughters text messages I probably don't know it!
:D

I live in Crestwood, its about 20 minutes east of Louisville

You might want to reconsider the SOA for a mall crawler. Do it right and go back to SUA and some lift kit springs. I owuld put much into a Dana 30 .

A 78 Waggy is 4" wider than a narrow track.

I don't want to cut the sheet metal but i want to clear 37's or 38's without a body lift. I know its insanely tall but thats the point of it. I just want something insanely tall and really loud that i can take to shows and always have the tallest one

I have an old Dana 44 housing that I cut down to stock cj width but never used. But If you are going that tall, the jeep would look much better with some wider axles under it.

Plenty of choices for axles, but if you go higher, you need to go wider for stability.

i really like the idea of going wider i love how it makes them look. are waggy axles the best choice?

If your staying sua yes. If your going soa than narrowing a chevy is easier.

Your jeep would be lifted equal to the thickness of your axle tubes plus the leaf spring pack. Measure and calculate with that info. Leave yourself some room above the tires. Since it is a show vehicle, you personally have to decide how close you want to get. Also, find out the potential tires you are looking to purchase actual height. Usually it's less than advertised. So, you might be able to get a bigger tire than you think!

ive been doing some more research and some people talk about getting a z link to fix the steering, would that fix it would it still have bump steer? also where can you get these i heard rocky road makes them but i can only find it in their SOA kits not by itself

i just found an 85 wagoneer i might be able to get axles off of would these be worth getting or do they not have the right knuckles up front?
