The fuel filler is not quite where it needs to be. Should I just loosen the clamps and pull some extra slack in them? It's a 1" body lift

A 1" body lift requires everything between the frame and body to be adjusted. Like lowering the radiator and shroud, adjusting the brake lines before the master cylinder, adjusting the steering rod if it binds, and fuel filler and vent lines. I know there is more to it but I have forgot it since it was years ago. As I recall the fuel filler and vent hoses can be adjusted by loosening them up, wiggling them a bit until they break loose to relieve the stress, then retighten them. There is some info on the net about body lifts on a CJ.
