Gents, need a little help identifying the bolt that goes through a Y block in the rear brake system that attaches to the rear axle housing. #8.122-2 in the pic. Looking for any info. My Spring Special did not have one and my recent stainless line upgrade has me wanting to attach it so it's not floppin around back there.

If no one comes up with an answer, you might have to just find this on your own. I would first suggest determining weather it is a sheet metal screw hole or a threaded hole. An AMC axle has a rather thin wall and it could need a sheet metal screw. If you look closely at the hole you could determine this.
If there are threads cut in the hole, you could just get a few small bolts you have lying around to determine what size it is. Once you find what thread it is then you would have to find what length you want. If it is a sheet metal screw, then you could just find one that has minor diameter a bit larger or the same size as what is in the axle and use it. I looked at mine and it is an oem torxhead so no telling what it is, Good luck!

When I did my axle there didn't seem to be much in the way of science in relation to that bolt. My original axle has a big thread self tapping bolt. An odd thing like I've never really seen before. My replacement axle didn't have a hole in it at all. I drilled and tapped a 1/4"-20. If I were you I'd find a self tapping bolt, drive it home and call it a day. Seems sorta bush league I know, but that appears to be what the factory did on my rear axles. Of course you don't want a bolt that is overly long, there's an axle spinning around in there.

Think it's a 1/4x28thd bolt, don't recall the length.
You don't want it to go into the axle more than 1/4".:notworthy:
Use thread sealer so water can't get in or the oil can get out.;)

In your parts manual, look up that number in the listing. The description may tell you what size. Looks like 14" x 20 in mine.
