Looking to do brakes today. My brakes currently slowly stop the vehicle. Looking for more stopping power. Is a better pad a good place to start. Was going to do rotors, calipers and pads. Drums, shoes, cylinders and small parts rear

I like to use organic brakes, since the tend to go easier on the rotors. With your engine though and more stopping power required and larger tires, I think you should consider an aftermarket booster for more stopping power.

Was thinking a bigger diaphragm booster. I dont want to spend 40 on pads and yoeld nothing.

I found a gm style dual 11 inch. Too big? Dual 8 maybe?

Cool, steep though! Ill look around, funny thing is that i have the regulators already

I use the organic pads from auto zone, I don't know if they stop as good as the high dollar ones, probably not. But since every where we play off road is kinda sandy dirt I go through them fast, and auto zone keeps giving me new ones under warranty.:)

When i drove up the tow truck, i could barely hold the jeep. I had to bear down on it hard. They have been blead. Would a booster solve this?

Maybe, I'm not a big brake guy.
In fact I'm kinda glad mine don't lock-up, coming down big slick hills.:D

Id like to be able to stop without a great deal of planning! Other quick question, my oil pressure is at 20 at idle 25psi under load on the street. Is this normal on a 360

Got new dual booster coming. Is the bigger line the disc? The regulator i have would fit the smaller line. Basically is the smaller tank and bigger line the discs?

I like the Hawk brake pads:

(Summit Racing site, but you can get them anywhere) http://www.summitracing.com/search/...formance-hp-superduty-brake-pads?autoview=SKU

They are a little pricey, but they wear like iron and don't wear on the rotor nearly as bad as a semi-metallic or ceramic. They definitely stop better than a standard organic. We have them on the JK, and they got rid of that "mushy" brake feel (Yes, "mushy" is a highly technical descriptive term for it )

Then again, I like Old Dog's approach, let Napa keep buyin' the pads for you! :D

I may buy those. Jk could use em too! The booster will be here today. Which line is front disc in pic of res?

Germy, the front larger brake line coming out of the Master brake cylinder is for the rear brake, it goes into the top rear hole of the proportioning valve. There is a layout in the Haynes Jeep CJ manual for a typical master cylinder indicating front and rear outlets.

I have a pressure regulator that fits the small line. With this new dual diaphragm booster, it states a 10 pound regulator is needed for rear drum. Does the line thin after proportioning valve? Could I put it there? I'm blind right now, cj is getting new mufflers. Anyone want a set of fairly new mangaflows?

You didn't like the magnaflows? I thought they sounded good.
My flowmaster hushpowers are to loud for me.
What are you having put on?

:)You say it won't stop and your thinking the pads are your only Problem? There is a lot more to a brake system than having the correct pads or shoes. That is the last equation to the system.
It sounds like you may have Power brakes already.........and 11 inch booster will never fit under the hood but a dual 8 should............but if you do not have a minimum of 19 to 20 inches of Vacuum you need to fix that first along with any leaks in the vacuum system.........I would also be looking at Brake Pedal Ratios at the pedal and it you have linkage between the firewall and the booster also there.........Is this stuff your using IE; calipers and drums all stock as far as sizes?.............Good systems are designed from the pedals to the master cylinder to the calipers & drums based on size and volume and not just picked up at your local Pick-U-Part.

:D:D:D:D

Had thrush welded put on. Little loud at idle, but bad to the bone under full throttle. Has a metallic sound, slight lope, sound good! Magnaflows were really thumpy.
