I just purchased a new CJ7 and noticed it didn't have any brake lights. I checked the brake light switch and found that the pink wire coming off the switch wasn't connected to anything. The plug has been cut off. The steering column has been replaced at some point and there is no plug on it for the brake switch. The turn signals run off a toggle switch on the dash and not the steering column. I understand the brake lights use the same wires as the turn signals to reach the tail lights. My question is where in the world do I connect the pink brake switch wire in order to get brake lights. I tried a couple of wires after the rear light harness but that didn't work. Thank you.

What steering column did they use?? Do you have a service manual with wire diagrams? I am sorry to answer questions with questions but you have a pretty good problem and I would see no good way to correct this without re wiring the column the way it was meant to be. The 90s Cherokee column will bolt right in with all the correct plugs. It is pretty easy to find and not too expensive.

do the blinkers work?? the flashers??:D

Do you have 12V to ground at the pink wire when the peddle is pushed down??

I hate to say this but if the PO chopped it up your in for a long road of hurt. you can try to back track the wires since they are pretty acessable in the cab.. next bet would be to bite the bullet and get a new harness..
