Brakes Brakes do not work

Helping a friend on a '79 CJ5 so new to this vehicle; Original everything; Need some guidance on brake system: Brake pedal has no resistance; Took front caliper off and nothing happens when brake pedal pressed; Opened front bleed screw, nothing comes out; Reservoir has some fluid in it; Took a rear drum off, pressed brake pedal, nothing happened; Parking brake seems to work; With is being 45 years old is it best to buy a conversion/rebuild kit?? If so, which one is the go to??

Since it's a 79 it should already has front discs as they stopped being an option on 78. That is unless your CJ is a late 78 CJ VINed as a 79.
Does your CJ have front disks?
Either way sounds like a bad master cylinder.
