I was out doing a spot of fairly gentle off roading when a front spring hanger snapped , , Is this a common problem with CJ7 , was the hanger uprated in any way ????? This is a front , front hanger up near the front bumper.
Yes, it is a common for the front spring hangar to break, mostly due to the stress of a lifted suspension. They break right at the clearance hole for the rivet. There are a few made by the aftermarket companies that are much of an improvement.
Thanks for the reply , that's kinda comforting to know , I have a direct replacement Crown unit delivered I did wonder if it might be metal fatigue but if it is a lift related problem then I need to find a way to somehow uprate the mounting , the old hanger has snapped exactly where you say ,
Across the hole for the locating rivet .... many thanks
