I would say I'm barely a weekend oil changer. However my 7 yr old son and I tackled the rear main seal on the Jeep. What a job that was but it was really cool to see my son so interested. And my 5 yr old learned a lot about tools. He was the official tool handler. And boy did WE learn a lot. They say they are ready to do the wheel burnings (bearings) tomorrow. That's the next hurdle in getting prepped for the Ouray run in July. I let them down and said mom will ground us from the garage if we work on it on Easter!
Oh, the confidence building was all on my end.

Good for you!
Nice story.

Good for you!

Before you tackle the wheel bearings, get yourself the correct size socket. It'll make things go easier. Also a torque wrench is good to set the pre-load. Although I've seen others do it without one.

You can probably re-use the locking washer. Just flatten it back out. I would bend it in a different area though when you re-assemble.

Love it ... especially the "wheel burnings" ..... My daughter used to help me in the reloading room make "bullups". Good memory, she's 24 now.
