I have a totally stock original 1978 CJ7 . I am have a problem finding the replacement bump stop that is the one for the front diff, not the ones on the frame. It mounts on a bracket on the short side of the diff., passenger side. It is factory because the diff has a pad that is cast into to diff housing for it to hit on. It is mounted with a bolt that is formed into the rubber bump stop, then a nut secures it. Only one bolt/nut instead of two like the two front and two back frame mounts that are bolted to the frame by two bolts each mount. Collins Bros of Texas knows nothing of this per his 30 yr shop manager. Quadratic or any other parts site that I have looked on (which are MANY) do not have this bump stop listed. Do not understand this. Please enlighten me on this thing. Thought if anyone would know of this, it would be a shop that restores jeeps like I think Collins Bros of Texas does! Thank you!

I believe that is called a "diff snubber" or "pinion snubber". I also have never found an OEM or stock replacement. I believe it's a 3/8 bolt secured and mounted like you described. A generic item like this may work for you: Universal Bump Stop

Another generic option: Option on Amazon
More to see: Another shape

You are right. I’ve never heard anyone say they found an exact replacement.

Thank you! Thought it must not be made. Very strange though, since almost every other thing is made after market for the jeeps!

Actually not so much anymore. 30 - 40 years ago there was a real after market, but not so much nowadays. Not as many of the old around. Manufacturing has moved onto the newer models, there are a lot more of them these days.

Hey David,

I have a couple of those snubbers.
I’ll send you the best one if you just pay for the shipping. I don’t need it and it’s just been sitting in a box. Let me know if you’re interested.
