1982 CJ 7 4.2liter T176,D300,D30,AMC20 3inch lift, ARB lockers front and rear, 4.10gears, 33inch tires.
I will be selling/donating the 1980s vintage bumpers and rocker guards soon. My question is, who is making cool bumpers like the ARBs, for a CJ ?
 
Some of the YJ bumpers will fit but it's best to drop an email on the MFG.

Only way to get what you want you build them then when someone asks where you got them you say I built them and you know there 1 of a kind :D

not a person alive can say they have a bumper like this and it will hold up to just about anything it will be bashed against. Gives great clearence for tires and put on 4 tabs for lights where I wanted them.

I jave about 60 dollars in that bumper, all metal was from the remnant table except, the receiver, which I paid about 20 for and a buck for each light tab, the rest I paid for by the pound as scrap off the remnant table. I welded it up over a few weekends as I gathered parts and primed it and painted it. And I am damn proud of it when someone ask where I got it I tell them out of my back yard. Where I built it myself.

Here's mine in progress, based on what BESRK builds. Check out his stuff for ideas (very nice). Now I must add a swing out tire rack. Have fun, work safe. ;)

I have been giving the rear bumper on the CJ , or lack of same, some thought. It will need to
A; not restrict departure angle.
B; be a solid lift point for a hi lift. be a good place to carry a hi lift.
C; a strong point to attach a winch/ tow strap to. a couple of 3/4 inch eyes.
D; have a receiver hitch.
E; weigh less than 50 pounds

Good points IO, I also wanted to protect @$$ end. Been hit in the back before by a texting teen so I wanted some protection for that big jug-o-gas back there. Check these photos from another forum for ideas. :rolleyes:

I agree a bit of resistance to contact with the sheet metal is a good thing.
That calls for
F; energy absorbing, this could be challenging, it would seem that just about all of us have a preference for a bumper, front or back, that absorbs about as much energy as a bridge abutment.:confused:
