Too bad about your troubles. Not sure what's wrong with some people thinking they can help themselves to other people's stuff.
I've had good luck with German Shepards, 5 in 38 years. #4 chased a bad guy off my roof. #5 woke me up at 2AM to watch some bad guys driving through my driveway loop lights off. The SKS was ready. . .
It helps to give them rides, then they think they own it. And protect it.
