When running an MSD-6AL ignition unit wasn't there a way to bypass the stock ECU on the drivers side fender well?

If you are running an MSD ignition, you don't need the ICM on the drivers side fender. MSD wiring diagram.

I think it's that red wire from the coil that's coming from the ICM. So i just need a keyed hot wire?

If you follow the red wire from the firewall side ICM connector not the connector on the ICM to the connector on the coil, that appears to be the correct wire. 1 Engine side small.jpg
If the pic is too small PM me an email and I'll send the full size file.

Ok, so i should be able to unplug the ICM and just let it hang on for the ride. Thanks!!

Yes. The white wire isn't normally used. If you want a little anti theft protection, get a togle switch and run the white wire to it on one terminal and the other to ground. The engine will crank but never fire. I did that but put a blinking red led on the dash that blinks when it is grounded. Why the blinking red light ? So when I forget that I flipped the switch, I know pretty quickly why the engine won't fire. It's hell getting old. :D

I did that with an MSD and left it on the fender. That box turned into a gooei mess several years later.
