My local Car Quest said they can get me a carb rebuild kit for my 1 bbl Carter for 30 dollars and have it here in 2-3 days and thats at cost for me.(discounted) But i found this carb kit, what does it come with? does this include the float and everything else? 4x4 Truck Tires : Jeep Wrangler Parts : Jeep Cherokee Parts : 4x4 Parts : Jeep Replacement Parts : Restore4x4.com

Gaskets, accelerator pump diaphragm. Check balls and most importantly illustrations and directions. No floats or jets.
I like the carburetor cleaner that comes in a gallon can , just take the carb apart, very carefully and let it soak for a day or two. Cleans out everything and then you can put the can on the shelf you will need it when you build the MC2100.
I would call around on the kit I just talked to my man at OReilly auto parts and Walker makes a kit that sells for $14.I would ask your counter guy just what was special about the $30 kit.

Hmm i will call OReilly tommorrow and look for the gallon of carb cleaner and hopefully they have it in stock, but this also poses another issues, the gas tank...i need to drop it and see what damage it has because i dont think it is operating correctly and the old fuel mixed with new, rust, etc....

When you drop the tank
Wear glasses, it’s going to be nasty under there. The nut in the center of the back of the tank as you are looking up does not need to come off; it holds the skid plate strap.
Be very careful when removing the fill and vent hoses, they are a honest to god endangered species and you will not be able to replace them. If they get damaged you are going to have to get creative to replace them and as with most creative things it will be expensive. I am assuming that the fuel fill is next to the tailgate on the passenger side.:lpopcorn:

Hey Corey,
As for the gas tank, I too have to pull the tank out of my 67. It has sat for over 20 yrs. making it a great candidate for cleaning. I found a piece on the internet that said to use lye and water to clean out the tank. it takes about two lbs. of lye and fill with water to 2/3 full shake it up well to desolate rust and gunk. rinse well and dry. Now for the lye it's almost impossible to find lye in stores nowadays thanks to the crackheads out there that use it to make meph. I found it at Essential Depot (866-840-2495) and at service@essentialdepot.com hope this helps.

I would be extremely carefully if you want to use lye to clean out a gas tank lye is extremely caustic and can cause sever chemical burns. If you are going to try and use it use protection like chemical glove goggles, and be sure not to get it on your skin it will cause SERVER DAMAGE TO YOUR SKIN, EYES. Mixing lye with some metals can cause dangerous fumes, so be EXTREMELY CAREFUL. With all this said if you still insist on using lye keep a gallon of vinegar at hand if you do get it on your skin it will neutralize the lye for lye is a base and water will only make it worst vinegar is a acid and will neutralize the lye. I THINK THERE ARE SAFER WAYS TO CLEAN YOUR TANK.
