Hi All, I am the proud new owner of a 1985 CJ7 - Straight 6 4 Spd. This evening I was out getting ready to go for a ride and manually hit the throttle on the carb as it was idling and saw gas come out of the hole on the front of the carb right below where there is a brass plunger with a lever over it. I believe the carb is a Motorcraft 2100. I have attached a photo for reference. Can someone please advise what this is and what the fix is for it as it does not seem safe. Thanks!

Sounds like the accelerater pump diaphram gone bad. Probably have to by a caburator kit to get the diaphram. They use to sell them separately back in the day. Easy enough to replace. You don't even have to pull the carburetor.

Thanks for that. Does that diaphragm sit in the housing that the hole is in? Also anyone have an idea as to where i can identify the model of the carb>

Yes, the diaphragm is inside the housing that the hole is in.
Here are the physical differences between the two:

Thanks for the info guys. Much appreciated! I see I can buy the pump on its own here.

Acc Pumps for Motorcraft-Autolite 2bbl Carburetors

In theory if I can confirm the OC spacing of the screws I should be able to determine which one it is correct?

As far as replacement - I have not worked on Carbs before but am mechanically inclined. I remove the linkage, unscrew the 4 screws, remove pump and replace with new pump. Install screws, attached linkage and I am good to go? Will the carb have to be held out or anything else or should I have to pump it, choke it and I am off to the races?

Thanks!

Just install the new diaphragm in the reverse order that you took it out. Be careful, there is a spring inside behind the diaphragm.
