I just ordered a new weber 32/36 and was wondering how hard is the swap.....Do I need to have a mechanic friend there to do it or is it simple enought for a farm boy to figure out with some mechanical ability..By the way this is my first attempt to do this form stuff.

Sorry for hijacking but I have a carb question:

I have a spare carb that came with my CJ5 and I am trying to identify it:

I know it came from AutoZone as a reman carb and it cost $160.99 in 2008. It has a part number of 64-1398 which translates to "2 bbl Holly Reman Carb Carter BBD". It does not have a tag on it but the body says "Carter Carbs 2425".

Any more info on if this is a useful carb to keep or should I just ebay it? Any idea on its value? Is it a Holly or a Carter?

I don't know enough about them but I would google all the #'s and see what you come up with. Sounds like you have already done some homework on it.

Your approach to this is interesting, not new I guess, but interesting. You may find, in the future , that finding out how to do a modification before ordering parts is much more cost effective than doing it the other way around.:D
Has your friend worked with Weber's before??
Have you ever worked with any carb before??

Yes you are right but at the time I had no clue there was a web sight like this. I am a green horn when it comes to this computer stuff. But I am learning. This web sight is great you all have helped me so much on what I want to do and need to do. I am hooked on this sight. Now if I only had the money to do to my jeep what I would like to do life would be great. My weber runs great the jeep finally runs good. Although it does seem to run rich. But I havent installed a fuel reg yet. That is the next thing.

Understood.
Two things to remember.
1) we are here for you, we understand your addiction and are supportive of it.
2) There are a never ending list of things you can spend money on with this pass time, whenever you have the opportunity to NOT spend money, take it. You are going to need to rebuild/build whatever you can and it is still gonna cost a bunch of money.
have fun!

Thank you. I do read quite abit on this sight that is how I made up my mine on the weber. so I do take into consideration what you all say it is good stuff. thank's from Oregon
