How difficult is it to change me 76 CJ7 from drum brakes to disc brakes on the front? I can buy a front axle with disc brakes on it but I think I'll have a lot of work to do because mine is a Quad-Trac.
Thanks

Swap everything from the knuckles out. That's how I upgraded my 76 CJ5 using a disc brake 30 from an 84 CJ7 .

Guess your drum brakes suck :( as mine do. I'll tag along on this thread with you to follow your progress and learn. Another idea, one that I may try. A friend has a drum brake booster and MC that he is going to give me. If I ever get it and install it, I'll report my findings with it. :chug:

Bolted a 74 axle into a 79 but both were manual CJ5s.

Buy the whole axle and check your knuckles before pulling them off. Some did have the 2 bolt mounts on the knuckles.

Depends on what year donor axle is 76 to some 78s had a 6 bolt caliper mount. These will bolt on to a drum axle but you have to put in longer spindle studs.

Look for the 6 bolt style. IMO. :D

The 6 bolt hubs went up to 1980. Late 78 and up had the thinner discs.
