I have a plastic center console now. Cheap I know, but hey its a jeep and it suits me right to the ground. Just stores what I need. BUT, someone was smart enough this winter to set it in front of one of those turbine heaters and uhhh well. It melted on the back end. SO, I have spent all morning trying to find another one. I dont need anything fancy, dont even care if it locks. HELP please! Where can I find one?????:confused::confused:
 
It seems like your cheap console would have a name molded in it some where. If you can find it do a search. Or was it one of the old Jeep center consoles? They look cheap, but are pretty solid and not cheap to replace. A picture of your melted one might help us help you.
 
Watch, the melted one will be an OEM nutmeg console......

That is a stock Jeep console, such disparaging remarks on such a simple but effective item. Now don' tell anybody if its nutmeg.
 
Leave those for someone who is restoring a Cj. You can get an aftermarket one for around the same price that will suit your needs better. I need specs on the 450 HP AMC 304 when you can.

Ill have to find the list of stuff I put in it. Everything in the motor was ordered top notch specifically for that kind of power. Over 5k in parts....course that gets easy to do. Anything in particular your looking for?

Mucho bucks in the engine cradle. I can understand the need for "cheap" in other areas.
I'm with IOPort51, ammo can! Assortment of sizes to choose from, water tight, lockable, easily replaceable and I would think pretty much turbine heater proof! Oh, almost forgot.....CHEAP!
 
Cam profile , head work , torque and Hp curve. While its not my thing it could help other members with similar intrests. Im guessing mud bogging is your cup of tea.

No, 'capable' mall crawler...I want a toy to throw in the mud, this isnt it...Trail riding and light mud....ive taken my DD through worse than this has seen...

Ive only got a Mild cam, dual pane aluminum intake, 600 holley carb...forged pistons....I'll have to remember which ones, maybe speedpros but I was looking at so many(plus I just bought a set for a 351c CJ engine. I had a knowledgable old man do all the work(im good for a simple motor build). He was promising me 500 mark with what I wanted, and the list I built off of was for that. Im figuring between 400-450. But with 2.72 gears It wont blow the hat off your head...It will sure spin those tires over though, nothing for me to break em loose. OOO, Unilite ignition...holley 110gph fuel pump and regulator.
 
If you can find a junk yard in your area that has jeeps, you maybe able to get a center console for next to nothing.

When I lived in Seattle, I was able to get a factory CJ console for $15 from this junk yard/off-road shop called Olympic 4x4 Supply.

If that doesn't work out, I support the Ammo Box option. :)

Oh no, unless you have a blue interior don't buy that. If you buy that blue console and rattle can it.... I WILL find you !:biggun:

OEM consoles that are any other color than black are super rare and hard to find.

I cant find a black one!!!!!!!!!!! Course, i just may make do with melty. Just cant open it all the way and the cup holders are now useless....
 
It is possible to heat it back up .... carefully this time .... and reset/bend it back as close as you can to the right shape. If done right you should be good to go and it might even add to the bad a$$ness of your Jeep.

I see black ones all the time on ebay, they are the most common console color, in fact I have one in very good condition that is black, I was gonna paint it too match a poem honey interior (I don't feel bad painting a black one cause they aren't as hard to come by as some other colors). But i have also been on the fence about selling it and getting an After market one.
