dropped in a chevy 350 with TBI in my 1979 CJ5 . Trying to figure out how best to do hook up a fuel pump. What have others done?

It should be located at the lowest point so fuel will be able to siphon out on its own to the pump. The fuel tank vent system should be operating correctly.

TBI can work with 5/16 send and return lines. you can use stock tank sender and lift tubes. I prefer 3/8 on the both sides.

You ll need to run new lines to accomplish this. A roll of 25 ft is usually under 30 bucks. Flare the line at the ends where rubber hose connects. Use rubber lined clamps. Depending on tank, passenger side is much easier to route new stuff.

Any fuel pump capable of up to 15-16 LBS will do. Jegs or Summit carry them cheap. It usually gets mounted under passenger seat, on rail for I-6 engines.

I suspect you will want to mount yours near the passenger rear shock mount, depending on exhaust routing. Not much room to mount the pump low on a CJ. First fire will need a bleed of the send side, but that's it as far as headaches go.

Run a metal canister filter right before the pump. Keep around two feet or rubber line on tank end, from sender.

Use fuel injection hose. and fuel line clamps. I run two per connection, when possible.

And take torxheads advice. fuel tank vapor lines, rollover valve and canister should function correctly. You don't want fuel forced through the vapor lines on a rolled over Jeep. You need Vapor lines on TBI.

As said above it should be mounted low, I have mine on the tank skid plate with a filter between it and the tank. You have to have a return line also. I just run a vented fuel cap.
