So. I received a gift certificate for a nice spiral cut honey glazed 9 lb ham for Christmas - and I intend to use it! :chug:

I'm going to pick it up on Dec 23 on my home to my family for Christmas...

What are your Christmas traditions?

We always have our main festivities on the 24th so we can just sit back and relax on the 25th... :)

Not really a christmas dinner tradition, but every year my family and I break out the chainsaw, and go cut a christmas tree down. Then we bring it home and decorate it while watching chevy chase christmas vacation. I bought eggnog this year and thought I could mix it with champayne. It curdled instantly! What do you guys put in eggnog? Right now they sell the Blue Ray Chevy Chase Christmas Gift pack at Target. It comes with the hillarious Moose glass, and winter earflap hat! :D

For dinner, I usually cook for Stans family. His cousins wife said she would do it this year with my help. I havent heard from her, I am losing my Christmas spirit... I am making BBQ-ed pulled pork. The end. I dont care who shows up at my door wanting to eat, it isnt happening.

Agree with mhubacek, always cut down a tree as a family. This year we had our fist grandchild to join us for the event.

As for dinner, we usually have just our immediate family dinner on the 24th. Most years have a nice spiral cut ham and the kids get to open one gift on Christmas Eve.
Then Christmas Day is spent with one of our families, usually my wife's as they are close by. About every 3 years, head to PA to spend it with my family.

This year, we will have my family up here to join us for the holiday. First time we will have both my family and my wife's family all together for the Holiday.

Should be a lot like a Griswald Christmas with about 40+ people all together.

Put brandy or rum in the NOG!
Chase the boy to bed early, wrap gifts if I haven't done so.
Then the wife and I snuggle up and watch TV.
Christmas is mostly about the boy, this year he's getting a GO-kart!
BWAA HA HA HAAAaaaaaa............. His first motorized vehicle, sniff sniff, so proud. :)

as a joke, around 5 years ago, I started a Thanksgiving tradition of turkey enchiladas, so for every year we have brought about 3 dozen for Thanksgiving. This year they were the turkey dinner as we all agree they are just to good.
So last year I brought apple baked beans and ham for Xmas
what a friggin hit
guess what, I have been asked to bring it again this year

Guys, start a new trend, fix something offthewall that is based in tradition and see everyone eyes go gaga when they taste it. You will be proud of your creation when they ask for it next year.

Apple baked beans and ham recipe

1 medium ham
I huge can of pork and beans, favorite brand, and we are talking huge, or 3 biggies
1/2 a jar of Guldens mustard
Honey
2 macintosh apples

start the beans and add honey, mustard and whatever else you like in them
let get hot as you make over sized cubes of the ham and add
let simmer a while and blend the flavors and slice the apples
about 15 minutes befor serving add the apples and cook till they are soft but not breaking up
serve

oh yea, get the movie "Mixed Nuts" and watch it later that night with a bottle of wine snuggling with the wife.
